ABOUT
The artist's job is not to succumb to despair, but to find an antidote for the emptiness of existence.
- Woody Allen, Midnight in Paris (2011)
I've always been fascinated with the 'documentation' of human experiences and imagination. Whether that's through literature, photography, theatrical re-enactments or cinematic re-enactments. Initially perceived to be mankind's appeal towards escapism, the true meaning behind the concept of telling (and re-telling) a story became much more than just mere escapism as I matured.
It started becoming about the relatability of the stories we hear and tell, which makes story-telling a vital component of humanity that connects all of us -- and ultimately makes us feel less isolated. Stories about endurance, bravery, human spirit and the potential of human beings have always intrigued not only myself but million others too -- serving as a testament and reminder of our very own potential.
A filmmaker hailing from India, I've been making films since the age of 11 -- starting off with Lego minifigures as my actors. As I grew up, my actors turned from being inanimate 1.5 inches tall plastic toys, to actual living beings who do not require the tedious task of having to move them for every 1/12th of a second of duration. But at least the toys never complained on shoot days...
I consider myself a Jack of all Trades, having experiences in Writing, Acting, Shooting, Editing and Producing, which ultimately contributes to my skill as a Director. Experimentation with various techniques and tasks are vital for myself, all serving to evoke a multitude of emotions in the audiences -- some which were not even known to be possible.
The projects I choose to work on never majorly overlap or run parallel, since I prefer to focus on one singular task at a time. So you won't hear me saying "I'm working on a few jobs here and there."
This website features a portfolio of my personal and commercial projects, which I invite you to check out. Feel free to contact me to discuss any commissions or collaboration enquiries you may have.
